USFA Summer Natioanl Championships--RESULTS.
Emiliano started out VERY slow in the first round (seeded 22 out of 117 qualifying fencers). After the first round, he was number 42 in the seedings for direct eliminations. He came out with a new determination and was down 14-9 against Popochin (NYC) and ralied to win 15-14. Next up was Colter (Texas) and again, he fell behind 14-10 and rallied to win. In his next match to progress to the final 8 (medal round) he came up against Copti (NJ)--a very tough and skilled opponent. By this time, many teamates, friends and fans had gathered to cheer him on. It was nip and tuck coming down to 14-14 and he got th final touch. JOY!
In the medal round he came up against 4th ranked Robert Stone (IL) and lost 15-6.
Emiliano finished 3rd among fencers his age--and he has another year to fence in Y14.
