Emiliano 3rd at North American Cup

Emiliano Kaptain won Bronze at the North American Cup Y14 Men's Sabre competition held in Dallas, TX on Sunday, November 11, 2007. He had quite a run--beating two fencers ranked ahead of him in the ratings. Teammate Michael Josephs took Silver--so it was a banner day for DC Fencers and Coach Dariusz Gilman.

Dallas North American Cup Junior (Under 20) Men's Sabre

Go figure.....Emiliano (age 14) was seeded 145 out of 179 fencers (under 20). Since he was only fencing "for experience" and at the orders of his coach "just to have fun", of course he did super. He finished 32. That's big, because he gets Junior points. He was the only Y14 fencer in the top 32 and the only "D" classification (there were no "C" fencers in the top 32).

He has two more days of fencing. Today (Sunday Nov. 11) he fences in his own age group (Y14) and then tomorrow, Monday, he fences in Cadet (Y16).
