Emiliano went in seeded 9th and finished the day with the Gold Medal in a mixed Senior competition (75 adult, collegiate, and elite fencers). In the final eight, he fought a tough match with Eugene Chung (a member of DCFC), then came from 8-2 down at the break to beat Sasha Ryjik 15-14 in a thrilling come from behind victory. In the final bout he defeated Brad Baker (assistant fencing coach at Temple University). He earned his "A" Classification. For the purpose of distinguishing between levels of performance and providing an objective scale for the seeding of competitions, fencers are classified nationally on the basis of competitive experience and achievement into the following classifications: A (highest), B, C, D, E, U (Unclassified, lowest).
