There was a Olympic competition (with all of the summer Olympic sports) in Mexico that goes on for several months at different sites.

Each state has its own qualifying and sends their best athletes.
There is an organization called IME (English translation is "Mexicans Living Abroad"). They competed as a Mexican "state" and sent Emiliano to the fencing competition that was held in Mexicali, Baja California. He fenced in the older Cadet Saber category (ages 16-17) and won the Gold Medal, on June 19, 2009.

Emiliano was born in the U.S., but his mother (Dolores) is from Mexico, so Mom, Emiliano and brother Diego each have dual citizenship and carry two passports.
We were surprised at the number of fencers who were entered. It looked like several hundred registered and competed.
We are still waiting for photos to be posted:

He comes back to the Washington, DC area to continue training for the USFA Summer National Championships in Dallas, at his club in Silver Spring, Maryland--DCFC.
